Sports Medicine Program

Sports Medicine
Our Sports Medicine Program demonstrates our commitment to our community. Muhlenberg Community Hospital provides our Sports Medicine Program to our local high school athletes free of charge.

This program provides athletic training coverage at designated Muhlenberg North and Muhlenberg South High School games and practices. This coverage allows immediate medical evaluation and first line treatment of athletic injuries. Athletic trainers work closely with physicians, orthopaedic surgeons and physical therapists to care for injured athletes.

Our Sports Medicine Program also strives to prevent injuries by educating coaches and athletes in preventative strategies, strengthening and conditioning programs.

Our hospital, along with local physicians, provides free annual physicals to high school athletes.

Who Are Athletic Trainers?
Athletic trainers are college-educated professionals. Most athletic trainers hold a Master’s degree. All athletic trainers must pass a national examination. The Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure and the National Athletic Trainers Association certify athletic trainers.
